Hello, and welcome to my journal! I love to squee about my favorite fandoms/boys, write fic, and rec other people's fic, so that's the bulk of what you'll find here. I also talk about books, tv shows & movies, as well as some personal stuff.

I don't have a 'main' fandom as such anymore, but I dabble in a bunch of them: MCU (where I read and write Steve/Bucky & Clint/Coulson) and Teen Wolf (where I read and write Derek/Stiles & Peter/Chris), as well as a bunch of small fandoms, such as Tanya Huff’s Blood and Smoke series (Tony/Lee & Henry/Tony), Blood Ties (tv) (Mike/Henry), Class (BBC) (Charlie/Matteusz), Days of Our Lives (tv) (Will/Sonny), Hit The Floor (tv) (Jude/Zero), Political Animals (tv) (TJ Hammond), Primeval (tv) (Nick/Stephan), Salvation (tv) (Darius/Liam), Shelter (2007) (Zach/Shaun), TFATF (movies) (Brian/Dom), Taxi Brooklyn (tv) (Ronnie/Steve), V (1983 tv) (Mike/Ham) and various Jeremy Renner fandoms, to name a few. o_O.

2023: New things I discovered this year: Chief Inspector Gamache Novels (Louise Penny), The Last Binding Series (Freya Marske), The Last of Us (tv), Ruth Galloway Mysteries (Elly Griffiths) and Top Gun: Maverick (2022). Something I've rediscovered is Midsomer Murders, which I'm rewatching from s1 (though I've only seen through s15, I think). I also posted my first femslash fic, have written another (in a second fandom) that won't be posted until next April and have plans to write yet another (in a third fandom)! Where is all this femslash coming from?!! *g*

2022: New shows I enjoyed this year: Andor, Dark Winds, Loki, Ms. Marvel, The Old Man, Professionals, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and ST: Strange New Worlds.

I just realized that my 20th anniversary in fandom happened last fall, Nov 2021!!

2021: This year I discovered Cobra Kai. (Who knew that a story about 30-year nemeses could have so many feels?!!) I'm behind, but I'm currently enjoying Leverage: Redemption and Hawkeye. I'm looking forward to finally seeing the new Wheel of Time tv series.

2020: I've discovered some new books/movies/tv shows this year, including Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries (tv), The Old Guard (2020) and the Sebastian St. Cyr Mysteries (C.S. Harris).

What I Just Finished Reading: Since my last Wednesday Reading Meme (two weeks ago) I have read/finished reading: Nothing. o_O

What I am Currently Reading: I finally started one of the books that’s been sitting on my dresser! Fake Dates and Mooncakes by Sher Lee.

What I Plan to Read Next: I’ve just purchased the new InCrypid book, so possibly that. Or still maybe the second book on my dresser! *g*

I had to get a new printer and decided to get a wireless one. I tried to set it up yesterday evening, but got an error message ("incompatible" with my wifi). Does anyone know what this means and what I can do about it?

SWAT: I went from thinking this was a good ep to hating it. ( spoilers )

Last Friday: I got in a walk around Walmart (and picked up yet more plastic bins), visited my aunt, did two loads of laundry, added ~600 words to my new fic, and did more boxing-up. I also browned and seasoned some ground beef to start spaghetti sauce. Temps started out at 26(F) and reached 53. There was sun!

This is one of the weirdest TV Talk posts I've ever made.

Hudson & Rex: No ep this week. Next new ep airs April 4! *cries*

NCIS: Hawai’i: No ep this week. Next new ep airs March 25.

Resident Alien: I still haven’t seen any of the new eps, but given how many shows are being preempted by March Madness, I just might be able to!

So Help Me Todd: There was no new ep last week, but a new ep will air this week.

SWAT: I was surprised when two new eps aired last Friday. I enjoyed both of them. ( spoilers )

Tracker: No ep this week. New ep airs next week.

I had my doctor appointment yesterday for my hip and I actually got an answer!

Trochanteric bursitis.

The doctor has ordered an x-ray and I've been scheduled to see an ortho doc (though not until April 3 o_O) for a cortisone shot if she agrees with the diagnosis.

I've looked up some exercises that will help with this issue and I might see if I can also get a referal for PT because I like having someone tell me exactly what I need to do.

I'm bummed that I'll have to deal with the pain for a few more weeks, but I'm glad I walked out of there with an answer.

This was supposed to go up Thursday. I don't know where my head has been.

Last Friday: I got a walk in around Walmart (and picked up plastic storage bins while I was there). I visited my aunt, added ~700 words to a new fic, did two loads of laundry and packed up some more crap from the computer/storage room so we can paint it. Temps started out at 11(F) and reached 46.

(As an aside, I've started watching a new HGTV show called Small Town Potential. I was interested in part because it takes place in the Hudson Valley, so that's cool. And the two female co-hosts (realtor and contractor) are GFs, which makes me happy to see (and HGTV is good about that). But, while I was watching the show I kept thinking that the one girl (contrator Kristin) reminded me of someone, and it finally hit me: she's a female Justin Hartley. Which is not a bad thing at all. Here's a link to some info about the show. Check it out and tell me how you can't unsee it now, either. *g*)

Books 4 & 5 of 2024: A Doomful of Sugar & Syrup to No Good (Maple Syrup Mysteries) (Catherine Bruns)

These are the books I picked up at B&N one visit a while back because the author was ‘local’. Her bio says ‘upstate NY’, which is close enough. *g* I read both books in a day (each), so they were quick and easy reads, and the stories were interesting. ( spoilers )

If you like your cozy mystery with maple syrup and diversity (the main character is Lebanese), and you also like recipes!, this is the series for you. I enjoyed it well enough and would probably read more in this series, as well as trying other of the author’s series. I’m giving them four hearts.

Last Friday: I hit Walmart and the Dollar Tree while I was downtown and got in a walk around Walmart. (I actually only planned to walk around Walmart, but you know how that goes. Things ended up in my cart.) I visited my aunt, did two loads of laundry, paid a bill online, and got ~1,700 words written on a new fic! I’m very excited about the fic idea and the words. Temps started out at 35(F) and reached 48.

Finished! This idea practically wrote itself. I was hesitant to post it because I don't have any ideas that are clamoring to be written the way this one was and I really enjoyed the return of that feeling of HAVING to write. I hope you enjoy this!

I want to talk more about Murder, She Wrote and Jessica Fletcher.

First, I mathed wrong. Angela Lansbury was 59 when Murder, She Wrote first aired, not 49 as I’d previously thought. Wow. Now I’m even more impressed and can understand why she needed a break sometimes.

Secondly, thanks to

cornerofmadness for letting me know that there would be a bunch of Jessica-less episodes. I think knowing they were coming helped me to enjoy them more than I would have otherwise. I do like Dennis Stanton. And the Jack and Bill ep! I was still surprised by just how many Jessica-lite eps there were in season 7 and 8, so I googled and found this article:

It’s hard to believe that we might not have had 12 seasons of Jessica Fletcher!

Third, a lot of the eps have given me fic ideas. See Jessica filling in for a politician? Political AU. See Jessica riding a horse? Western AU. See Jessica go to Ontario? Immediately think of the Gamache books. See Jessica attend a rodeo in Saskatchewan? Due South crossover. See Dale Robertson in a couple of eps? Tales of Wells Fargo crossover. See Adrian Paul in an ep? Highlander crossover. And I’m really excited that season 8 takes her to Manhattan because I’ve imagined her running into a number of people from Avengers Tower. *weg*

But the number of spy-adjacent episodes has made me really want to write a Special Agent/Secret Agent AU! I even said to my mom once that the writers of the show are just daring me to do so. That, along with

reeby10’s suggestion of Coulson as Jessica’s nephew, turned it into a SHIELD AU. So that’s what I’m writing now. (I have ~2,700 words written!)

My current idea for a teaser summary: Agent Jessica Fletcher is called out of retirement when Agent Coulson goes missing.

And I have ideas for a couple of story ideas in this same ‘verse, so I’m considering making it a series called Jessica Fletcher, Agent of SHIELD. *g*

What kind of stories do you think need to be written for Jessica? Or take some of the ideas I’ve mentioned and flesh them out. Like, in the Western AU, what character would Jessica play? Would making her the school teacher who helps the sheriff solve crime be too on the nose? For the political one, what about a Political Animals or The West Wing crossover?

Go crazy with it!

Tracker: I mostly enjoyed the first two eps and I’m looking forward to seeing more. ( spoilers )

Last Friday: I had a dentist appointment scheduled this morning, but had to cancel it. We got snow overnight, and while it wasn’t a lot for this area (about five inches), the wind was terrible and it was drifting pretty badly. I did manage to get 3 loads of laundry done and stopped at Stewart’s on my way to pick up Ti from the garage (Grant stayed home with me). Temps started out at 27(F) and reached 35.
